North Fulton residents and motorists traveling down Old Milton and Westside Parkways will see vertical construction in September.

First reported as a kidnapping, Johns Creek police believe Aftab Aslam sent the text message claiming he was kidnapped.
Three law enforcement agencies have been searching for a 19-year-old North Fulton man since last Saturday; now they're asking for help from the public in finding him. Aftab M. Aslam, who is 5 feet, 10 inches tall, 165 pounds and has medium-length black hair, was first reported as being kidnapped on April 27 at 10 a.m. Johns Creek Police responded to his Morton Crossing address, where officers were told he was missing from his home. "Aslam’s family reported that they had received a phone text stating that he had been kidnapped," a news release from the city said. Bringing the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) into the case, investigators found the phone used to send the text and discovered …

Seventeen concerts are scheduled so far at Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre, with everything from Tony Bennett to Widespread Panic having set dates. The first concert scheduled so far is a two-date bill by Widespread Panic on April 26 & 27. Styx returns again this year with REO Speedwagon and Ted Nugent. On April 26 tickets go on sale for Keith Urban's July 27 visit to Alpharetta. Little Big Town and Dustin Lynch join him as opening acts. A day later, tickets for Steely Dan's Sept. 7 concert will go on sale. Steely Dan is one of four new concerts scheduled recently. U.S. Treasury Secretary Jacob J. Lew said the Siemens GA 400 facility in North Fulton is the kind of manufacturing plant the country needs to promote. Lew was making his first trip outside of Washington, DC, since being confirmed for the Cabinet position by the U.S. Senate on Feb. 27. He was asked why he came to this part of the country for his first trip. "This was the kind of facility that demonstrated advanced manufacturing," he said. The technology at Siemens in Alpharetta is being used in a way that creates multiple benefits, he said. Gov. Nathan Deal announced today that the Ernst & Young organization is opening a global IT center in Alpharetta, investing $8.5 million and expanding the organization’s presence in Georgia with 400 new jobs, according to a press release from the Governor's office. "Georgia’s talent, affordability and willingness to embrace and support cutting-edge innovation have drawn quite a wave of technology-focused investment lately," said Deal. Like many people with aging family members, Lisa Arrington and Fran Becker saw how their loved ones struggled to effectively downsize a full life so that it fit into a more manageable space once the big house became too much. North American Properties broke ground today at Avalon, an 86-acre, resort-inspired, mixed-use development in Alpharetta next to GA 400 and Old Milton Parkway. "It's been a year and a half since we acquired Prospect Park, but we were chasing it a year before that," said Mark Toro, managing partner of North American Properties. "It's been tremendous.
