Big Apple Circus will set up its big top tent in Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre's parking lot in February 2013.
The circus is coming to town! Yes, Big Apple Circus will be in Alpharetta from Feb.1-17, setting up the big top in Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre's parking lot. Alpharetta City Council had to approve the special event because it will be held for more than four days. The one-ring circus will have shows twice a day, with no Monday performances. Worried about the weather? Don't, circus officials say, because the big top tent will be climate controlled. Tickets are priced between $20 and $60 at the Big Apple Circus site, but look for promotional opportunities to get discounts. Jeannine Malone was appointed by the City of Sandy Springs on Dec. 3rd. Her husband will be sentenced on federal drug trafficking charges, this month. Next week, Jeannine is expected to be named in a wrongful death suit related to a teen suicide.
On Wednesday, Jeannine Malone was let go from her position as Assistant Solicitor for the Municipal Court for the City of Sandy Springs after ties to NutraGenomics, an Alpharetta company operated by Roswell residents, was found. She was sworn in on Dec 3rd. “We became aware that she was having personal problems and decided it was in the best interests of the city to withdraw her appointment,” said Bill Riley, an attorney for the City of Sandy Springs. Malone’s husband Thomas W. Malone, Jr. has been embroiled in a federal drug trafficking case tied to the synthetic marijuana industry. He pleaded guilty to drug trafficking charges in the fall. North Fulton resident Madison Lintz talks about working with Billy Crystal and filming in hometown.
Perhaps best known for her tragic role as "Sophia" in AMC's "The Walking Dead" TV series, Alpharetta's Madison Lintz, 13, has shed the zombie makeup for her new role in "Parental Guidance." Opening Christmas Day and starring Billy Crystal, Bette Midler and Marisa Tomei, the family friendly comedy centers on the grandparents portrayed by Crystal and Midler, who are tasked with taking care of their modern-day-raised grandchildren. The movie was filmed at various locations around Atlanta, including Ocee Park in nearby Johns Creek. Madison, or Madi, as she's known, snagged the role of the best friend of Crystal and Midler's granddaughter after auditioning for the part on her last day on "The Walking Dead," also filmed in the Atlanta area. …

Fulton County Commissioner and Johns Creek resident Liz Hausmann took home the "Friends of Business" award from the Regional Business Coalition when she left the Eggs & Enterprise Breakfast Tuesday morning. "This person has led the way for economic development not just in North Fulton but across our county," said Bernie Tokarz, Public Policy director for the Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce, as he introduced her. Monday's Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce Golf Classic was rained out, but golfers don't have to miss out on this chance to hit the links. The chamber has rescheduled the tournament to Monday, Nov. 19 at Country Club of the South in Johns Creek. The later date has opened up some additional sponsorship opportunities that just didn't make sense this week. All of the original sponsorships were sold out, but in mid-November these sponsorships could be very popular: Presented by Northside Hospital, the annual GNFCC Golf Classic is the chamber's largest fundraising event.
