Think you’ve got what it takes to run a school? Comfort a crying kindergartner? Manage the morning carpool? Talk to a team of teachers who are preparing lesson plans? Now in its fifth year, the Fulton County School System is calling for business and community leaders to participate in its Principal for a Day program and experience school administration – for a day, that is. By tackling many of the regular duties facing school leaders, these new “principals” will learn how rewarding – and demanding – it is to be an educator. During Nov. 12-16, Fulton’s real-life principals will “hand over the keys to the school” to selected community partners to not only share their school’s successes and challenges, but also to solidify future partnerships…
The process to select Principal Jerome Huff's replacement gets underway.
Since current Elkins Pointe Middle School Principal Jerome Huff will be taking over for Roswell High School Principal Ed Spurka when he moves over to the new Bethany Bend high school being built in Milton, the process to replace Huff is underway. "I wanted to keep everyone updated on the principal selection committee to select the next principal of Elkins Pointe Middle School," Huff wrote in a memo sent out in the EPMS newsletter. According to Huff, interviews for the position will take place on April 22, but the committee to select qualified applicants is currently being put in place. Without a permanent principal currently, Crabapple Middle School encourages parents to fill out survey on what they would like in the next person to fill the position.
It's been nearly a month since former Crabapple Middle School Principal Dr. Kimothy Jarrett left the position for "personal reasons;" and now the search is on to find a permanent replacement. Because of the suddenness with which Jarrett left the position, many parents questioned the reason behind the action. "I’m sure this announcement comes rather suddenly, but let me assure you that it is not due to anything involving the well-being of students or staff nor the school’s performance under her leadership," Roswell Cluster Superintendent Dr. Will Rumbaugh wrote in a letter to parents.
