Corporate national real estate blog, Redfin, puts Roswell among the top 16 areas in the U.S. that will see a boom in 2013.
We all know Roswell is a great place to live, work and play - and now so does the rest of the U.S. thanks to a new real estate blog by Redfin. The blog names the top 16 "Hottest Up-and-Coming Neighborhoods" in the country for 2013. Roswell is at the top of the list. Others also noted included: Somerville in Boston, North Maple Leaf in Seattle, Uptown Denver and Highland Park in Los Angeles. When asked why real estate agents believed Roswell, along with the rest of the areas noted, were expected to "heat up" this coming year, "new restaurants, a hip local vibe, good schools and convenient commutes" were all cited. A leading index reports that home prices in the country's largest cities are up 1.6 percent in July. Atlanta metro's home prices, which includes North Fulton, rose by 2.6 percent.
After several years of downward trends in home values, a leading real estate index reports that home prices are beginning a slow climb back in the plus column. The Standard & Poor's/Case-Shiller latest report, which looks at home prices in the country's 20 largest cities, finds that home values have increased 1.6 percent. And in the Atlanta metro area the news is even better, the report shows a 2.6 percent increase, according to a report in the Los Angeles Times. “The news on home prices in this report confirms recent good news about housing," said David M. Blitzer, chairman of the Index Committee at S&P Dow Jones Indices. "All in all, we are more optimistic about housing. Upbeat trends continue." The increase is the third consecutive …

Roswell will host a workshop for insurance and real estate professionals next week in conjunction with Alpharetta and the National Flood Insurance Program. Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) have released new preliminary flood hazard maps. While the new maps will not become effective for another 10 months, it is important for insurance and real estate professionals to understand the effects that these map changes have on flood insurance requirements and what options are available for their clients. New owners are shopping the 106 acre property.
The site where the controversial mixed-use Roswell East project was once proposed is back on the market. The Pinnacle Companies, of Montclair, N.J., is currently shopping the 106 acre Kings Bridge apartment complex and adjacent land just east of Ga. 400 to developers who might set their sites on building out the site, which is pitched to be "perfect for a large mixed-use project." The site is listed with Jones Lang LaSalle and the price is not disclosed, but according to the Real Estate Alert Newsletter it may potentially attract bids of about $25 million. Past attempts at developing the property have gone nowhere. In 2007, former site owner, Charlie R. Brown, of CRB Realty, proposed a vast mixed-use project, similar to what he developed …
