1,000 Ducks To Invade Big Creek After Rivers Alive Cleanup

Ducks can be rented for $3 at Alive After 5 or Roswell City Hall. First place will receive $100

On your mark, get set, duck! On Sept. 22, more than 1,000 plastic ducks will race 150 yards down Big Creek along Oxbo Road during The Great Duck Race – an annual fund-raiser that supports Keep Roswell Beautiful. Roswell Mayor Jere Wood will send the ducks downstream around 12:45 p.m. as the grand finale to the 22nd Annual North Fulton Rivers Alive Festival and River Cleanup, an event that focuses on keeping our community’s waterways clean for local wildlife and recreation through volunteer efforts to help remove litter and debris from the Chattahoochee River and surrounding areas. “The Great Duck Race is a fun way to celebrate the beautiful waterways that run through the city while enjoying a little friendly competition,” said Janet …

Local Residents Donate Time, Food for River Cleanup

The 21st Annual Roswell River Cleanup joins businesses and residents for common cause.

The 21st Annual Rivers Alive kicked off early Saturday morning in Roswell with over 500 local volunteers collecting debris and trash from North Fulton roads and parks. Milton High School students Emma Salter and Camille Gonzalez were among those who volunteered. “Whenever people run or bike past us on the streets, they thank us,” Salter said. Keep Roswell Beautiful Chair Kim Weber witnessed one family gather over 100 pounds of trash on their own. “We find the craziest stuff out here, like road signs and car tires,” Weber said. “Last year, one volunteer found an entire bag of old Vidalia onions. It was the stinkiest find.” Alpharetta Environmental Coordinator Terri Porter was among the organizers who helped organize the Roswell river …
