Roswell Garden Club Reschedules Plant Sale

After being rained out last weekend, the club hopes the rain hold off for this Saturday, May 11.

The Roswell Garden Club has rescheduled its annual Spring Plant Sale for Saturday, May 11, Perennials, annuals, herbs and heirlooms will be available at reasonable prices.   And experts will be on-hand to give specific growing conditions and instructions.  The sale, rained out last weekend, will begin at 9 a.m. on the grounds of historic Smith Plantation, 935 Alpharetta Street in Roswell. It will run until 1 p.m. Visitors are requested to park at Roswell’s City Hall, 38 Hill Street. Manor on the Square Residents Plant for Spring

With the help of the Roswell Garden Club, Manor residents planted flowers recently.

Members of the Roswell Garden Club helped residents of Manor on the Square in Roswell celebrate the spring season during the facility's annual "Diggin in the Dirt" event recently. Despite inclement weather outside, there was a festive atmosphere inside as residents were assisted in potting up some seasonal annuals to enjoy throughout the summer. Residents also enjoyed a snack of gummy worms and cookie dirt, during the fun event. For more information on Manor on the Square visit the website. Roswell Garden Club Creates 'Welcome Garden'

The new Historic Roswell Visitors Center garden is part of the club's Georgia Garden Week celebration.

The Garden Club of Georgia will sponsor Georgia Garden Week to promote garden-related activities throughout the state - including Roswell - next week. The Roswell Garden Club joined the April 21-27 celebration by installing a "Welcome Garden" at the Roswell Visitors Center to greet guests as they tour the historic district. Other on-going club projects include maintaining gardens at Smith Plantation, Barrington Hall, the Roswell Adult Recreation Center and the Roswell Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.  For additional information and volunteer opportunities visit the Roswell Garden Club website.

Roswell Garden Club Procures Grant

The money helped fund the club's holiday decor at the Smith Plantation.

The Roswell Garden Club has received a matching grant from the Garden Club of Georgia, Inc. to help fund holiday decorating at historic Smith Plantation.    The Roswell Garden Club is a member club of the Dogwood District of The Garden Club of Georgia and the Deep South Region of National Garden Clubs, Inc. The "Community On My Mind" Grant Fund was established by The Garden Club of Georgia to support local garden club work in communities which provides a public benefit to its citizens. The funding for the grant program was made possible by a generous donation from the Georgia Power Foundation.  The Garden Club of Georgia was founded in 1928, and its mission is to promote "Beautification, Conservation, and Education."

Roswell Garden Club Gets City Ready for Christmas

Roswell Garden Club Receives National, State Awards

The local club was recently recognized by the Roswell City Council for their good work around the city.

Recently the Roswell Garden Club received an Award of Merit from the National Garden Clubs, Inc. for "Decoration of Historic Building, the Archibald Smith Plantation Home." Club members decorate the Smith Plantation Home extensively for the Christmas season each year. Also, RGC was honored with awards from the Garden Club of Georgia: second place for Garden Club of the Year Trophy, first place for Holiday Decorations, second place for Public Relations Award, second place for Civic Improvement Award, second place for Publications Award and third place for website award. RGC was also awarded Garden Club of the Year from the Fulton Federation of Garden Clubs.

Roswell Garden Club to Host Flower Show

Mark your calendars to attend the free two-day event, May 25-25.

Looking for some "natural" inspiration? The Roswell Garden Club will host a free flower show soon. Floral designs and horticultural entries will be displayed during the event, which draws everyone from amateur gardeners to serious horticulturalists. Garden club members will also be on hand to answer gardening questions. The show will be held at the Roswell Adult Recreation Center, 830 Grimes Bridge Road in Roswell, on Friday, May 25, from 2 to 4 p.m. and Saturday, May 26, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For additional information visit the Garden Club's website.

Garden Club Holds Annual Plant Sale in May

The event will take place at the Smith Plantation Home, May 5 from 8 a.m.-noon.

The Roswell Garden Club will hold its second annual plant sale on the grounds of historic Smith Plantation Pass Along Plants, heirlooms, natives and drought-tolerant species will be available including annuals, perennials, ground covers, seeds and plants that attract wildlife. All plants will be clearly marked with preferred growing conditions and instructions. According to Garden Club members, everything will be moderately priced to sell. The event will take place on Saturday, May 5, from 8 a.m. to 12 noon. and parking is available at Roswell’s City Hall, 38 Hill Street. Visit www.roswellgardenclub.com for more information.

Roswell Garden Club Plants 30 Trees

In conjunction with recent Arbor Day events, the club planted trees at the Smith Plantation.

Members of the Roswell Garden Club recently planted 30 trees on the grounds of historic Smith Plantation in celebration of Arbor Day 2012.  The trees were supplied by the Roswell Rotary.

Learn How to Attract Birds, Butterflies at the Roswell Garden Club Meeting

The Roswell Garden Club will hold its monthly meeting Tuesday, Feb. 28.

The Roswell Garden Club and the Chattahoochee Nature Center will team up this week for the garden club's monthly meeting. Henning Van Schmeling from the nature center will speak to the club - and any guest who would like to sit in on the meeting - about plants that attract birds and butterflies. The club will meet on Tuesday, Feb. 28, at 10 a.m. in the Bill Johnson Community Activity Building at Roswell Area Park, 10495 Woodstock Road in Roswell.
