Roswell Moves Forward on Luxury Frazier Street Apartment Complex

The project's working title is "Canton Street City Walk."

Prepare to see bulldozers and other construction equipment near Roswell's historic district soon - the Roswell City Council approved the conditional use of a new high-end apartment complex where Frazier Street Apartments currently reside. Lennar Multi-Family Investors' proposal, approved under the Groveway Community Hybrid Form-Based Code on Monday, May 13, will raze and rebuild the current apartment complex. The transformation will turn the current 10.6 acre, 152-unit property into a luxury development with 320 "stacked flats." Councilman Kent Igleheart, concerned about the density of the project, doesn't believe the project meets the overall goal for the Groveway Community. Canton Street Event 'After Noon' Kicks Off Tuesday

The new historic Roswell event will be held the first Tuesday of the month, from May to October.

You've heard of Alive After 5, now the businesses at the north end of Canton Street want to introduce you to "After Noon" - a special activities event from noon to 4 p.m. on the first Tuesday of the month, from May to October. After Noon, which officially kicks-off on Tuesday May 7, will create another fun experience for families visiting the historic district. Criterium to Close Roads, Alter Traffic Sunday

Expect traffic delays Sunday, April 28 for the Annual Mayor's Ride and Historic Roswell Criterium.

Anyone passing through downtown Roswell on Sunday, April 28, is sure to notice some temporary traffic adjustments, courtesy of the Roswell Mayor’s Ride and 12th Annual Historic Roswell Criterium. Click here for specific information and a schedule for the Roswell Mayor’s Ride and the 12th annual Historic Roswell Criterium. Road closures and delays throughout the historic district are expected, according to the city's Cone Zone website. OPULENT Set to Open May 6

The "global-inspired" kitchen will have a roaring 20s "speakeasy style."

After two months of transformative work, Canton Street restaurateurs Hicham Azhari and Fikret Kovac are nearly ready to debut their latest endeavor in Opulent - a "global-inspired" kitchen with a roaring 20s "speakeasy style." They will officially open the doors for dinner, Monday, May 6. Lunch service will begin the following week, Monday, May 13. The new restaurant will replace F&H Food Trading Group's local favorite INC Autentico. Alive After 5 2013 Season Starts Tonight

All your favorites and more will return to the Roswell historic district for the inaugural event, Thursday, April 18.

It's not officially spring in Roswell until the historic district comes "alive." Alive After 5 and Alive at the Square kickoff tonight, Thursday, April. 18. As with years past, attendees can expect the popular local event to be quite the spectacle. Food trucks, local vendors, artisans, music, entertainment, kiddie fun and shopping are all scheduled for the season's inaugural event. Mac McGee Officially Cuts Ribbon on Canton Street Pub

Business owners and city officials were on-hand to officially welcome the new Irish pub to Roswell's historic district.

Mac McGee has been open for a month, but city leaders and business managers made it official Friday, April 12 with a ribbon cutting. The new Irish pub made a splash onto the historic district scene with its red exterior, painted late last year. While some promised a boycott, the flashy color hasn't seemed to hurt business. Patrons can be seen mingling in and around the business, often enjoying the view of Canton Street from the upstairs balcony.

Grand Marnier's Canton Street Promotion Benefits Chattahoochee Nature Center

The alcohol company is "Painting Canton Street Red" through May.

If you've noticed an increase of Grand Marnier cocktail options and company memorabilia in Roswell's historic district, you're not imagining things. The liquor company has set out to "Paint Canton Street Red" - for a good cause. The two-month long promotion, which showcases the brand, benefits the Chattahoochee Nature Center (CNC) and includes nine restaurants along Canton Street: Slate Table & Tap, Pastis, Ceviche, Zest, Party Chic, Little Alley, Roux, Nine Street Kitchen and Salt Factory. Criterium Races through Roswell April 28

The 12th Annual Historic Roswell Criterium returns on Sunday, April 28 with an expanded race course in the heart of historic Roswell, according to information provided by organizers.  The schedule of events includes: The Historic Roswell Criterium, which began in 2002, has established itself as the largest pro/am criterium in the Southeast and second largest single-day race in the United States. It has surpassed 750 total race registrations for the day, according to a recent press release. For the first time in 12 years, the Historic Roswell Criterium will introduce a new race course. Runners Raise Money, Enjoy Beautiful Day in Historic District

Runners took to Canton Street early Saturday morning, April 13, to raise money for the Children's Hospital of Atlanta.

A large number of runners and spectators enjoyed the gorgeous weather, Saturday, April 13 while they raised money to benefit Children's Hospital of Atlanta. After completing a 5k and 10-miler, runners spent time taking in the live music at the Heart of Roswell Park and frequenting historic district businesses, which offered specials throughout the day.
