No Turn on Red: What's Up With the New Restriction at Mansell and Crossville?

The city explains the decision to limit right-hand turns at the intersection.

A new gas station, thousands of cars passing through daily and high rates of speed are the three things that precipitated the need for no turning right on a red light at Mansell and Crossville roads, say Roswell Transportation Department staff. The relatively new RaceTrac at that corner has people flying across several lanes of traffic in an attempt to pull in, according to the city's field studies. But even before the gas station was there, the intersection was listed as one of the city's "Top Ten High Accident Locations." Southbound Mansell right turn rear end accidents were predominant. Roswell’s Director of Transportation Named National APWA Public Works Leadership Fellow

Steven Acenbrak will now mentor other public works professionals.

Roswell’s Director of Transportation Steven Acenbrak was recently designated a Public Works Leadership Fellow (PWLF) by the American Public Works Association (APWA). Such a smartie... (lol) Congratulations, Mr Acenbrak. I put up with city of Atlanta streets for nearly all my driving life, until I moved to Roswell in 2010. And I can tell you that driving here is like a breath of fresh air compared to what I was used to. Keep up the good work!   more ›

Your Views: Improving Roswell Roads

We asked, Roswell Patch readers answered. Monday we asked you how you would improve local roads. Here's a sampling of your responses.

From the ambitious to the readily achievable, from upscale aspirations to the socially conscious, Roswell residents always offer some interesting and sometimes controversial ideas. Here's what you said in response to this week's Community Agenda survey. Which Roswell roads are the best? Why? Which Roswell roads are the worst? Why? Do you agree with the in-depth process in which roads are graded according to wear and use? If not, how would you restructure the process? Do you agree or disagree with these answers? Have more to say? Tell us in the comments below!
