More Rain Possible This Week, Sunny Skies by Memorial Day Weekend

This weekend's heavy rain will move out of Roswell, making way for mostly sunny skies by the weekend.

After yet another weekend filled with flood warnings and event cancellations throughout the metro area, Roswell is in for some sunny skies early this week and this Memorial Day weekend, though rain will be likely on Wednesday. According to the National Weather Service, Big Creek remains above flood stage, affecting some yards in North Fulton and Forsyth counties. The creek was expected to fall below flood stage by early Tuesday. The Big Creek Greenway is closed due to flooding. A chance of scattered strong showers and thunderstorms continues Monday, with partly cloudy skies and a high of 87, according to the National Weather Service's Roswell forecast. Roswell Celebrates 'National Bike to Work Day'

Staff and some council members rode their bikes to city hall, Friday, May 17.

Mayor Jere Wood, City Administrator Kay Love, Councilwoman Dr. Betty Price and several City of Roswell staff members started their morning off right this past Friday, May 17 when they pedaled their way into work for "National Bike to Work Day." The event was part of the city’s celebration of National Bike Month. City employees also are using this healthy, sustainable, economic transportation option to ride to lunch together each Wednesday in May. And earlier this month, the city joined Bike Roswell in helping students from Hembree Springs Elementary School ride their bicycles to school on the new Hembree Road Multi-Use Trail. Flood Warning Issued For Roswell

The Chattahoochee River near the city has surpassed its flood stage.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for Roswell. The Chattahoochee River near the city was reportedly at 9.6 feet just before 5 p.m. this afternoon and its waters were holding steady, according to the agency.  Flood stage for the river is set at 9 feet and minor flooding will occur until early evening when the river is expected fall below flood stage.  Showers and thunderstorms will continue through the evening and some of those storms can produce heavy rainfall. Leave Food Donations Near Your Mailbox

The "nation's largest single-day food drive" is this Saturday.

Millions of American families need food assistance, and the National Association of Letter Carriers this Saturday will hold what organizers say is the nation's largest single-day food drive. The association collected more than 73 million pounds of food during last year's Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive, according to Michael Miles with the United States Postal Service. More than 200,000 pounds of that was collected in metro Atlanta, he said. McAlister's Deli Launches Contest for Trip to NYC

Restaurant, which has a Roswell location, offering a chance to win a trip.

McAlister's Deli, which has a location on Market Boulevard in Roswell, has launched a sweepstakes for folks to win a trip to New York's Mississippi in the Park event. Contestants must go to either the restaurant chain's website or Facebook page and answer a quiz about what they are craving that day. The contest is open through May 17.

My Mom is the BEST! She once broke her ankle on the coast in Texas which wasn't a formula for good things considering he advanced Diabetes. The pain medicine made her so delirious, she threatened to murder all the nurses. What a ham she is! All this before her wound became septic and they amputated her left leg even.
