Sen. John Albers (R –Roswell) is happy about the passage of Senate Bill 207 last week, which allows private home care providers to obtain first offenders information on potential job applicants. The bill passed the Senate by a vote of 47 to 4. It is now headed to the state House of Representatives for consideration. "I am pleased by the Senate’s favorable consideration of Senate Bill 207 in the Senate today," said Albers, who sponsored the bill. "The passage of this legislation is an important safeguard against abuse in the private home care setting and seeks to protect our state’s most vulnerable citizens." Like so many in North Fulton, Sen. John Albers (R- Roswell) wants to see the return of Milton County - sooner than later. Albers introduced Senate Resolution 273 yesterday, Wednesday, Feb. 20. If passed, the resolution would propose an amendment to the Constitution of the State of Georgia to allow for the re-creation of Milton County, according to information from the State Senate press office. The Georgia Constitution caps the number of counties at 159. An amendment is "required to merge, consolidate or divide local governments." If approved by a supermajority of the General Assembly, as well as the voters, Senate Resolution 273 would allow any former counties, such as Milton, to be exempt from the cap, said the press release. Sen. John Albers said he was, "feeling confident," just hours before the polls closed on election night, Nov. 6. As it stands it seems the Republican State Senator from District 56 had a reason to be confident. His constituency which includes the citizens of Roswell, Sandy Springs, Milton, Alpharetta, Mountain Park and Johns Creek overwhelmingly voted to keep Senator Albers in office. It was a long night Tuesday, but when the votes were all totaled U.S. Congressman Tom Price, Sen. John Albers and the Roswell bond referendum all came out on top. With 65.24 percent of the approval vote, the Roswell bond referendum passed rather easily. The $14.7 million set to be borrowed by the city has been promised by local leaders to fund transportation improvements at Ga 400/Holcomb Bridge Road, a new fire station and an indoor aquatic center, among other items.
