Poll comes after U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss announced his decision Friday to not seek re-election in 2014.
On Friday, Georgia's Senior U.S. Senator, Republican Saxby Chambliss, announced in a statement on his website that he wouldn't be seeking a third term in 2014. By Monday, a poll on possible replacements had already hit the headlines. According to a press release from GaPundit.com, former Georgia Gov. Sonny Perdue leads that poll, followed by former Georgia Sec. of State Karen Handel. “If Governor Sonny Perdue decides to run for the U.S. Senate, he immediately becomes the front-runner, though it’s not a prohibitive lead,” said Todd Rehm, Editor of GaPundit.com. The findings were the result of a telephone poll conducted by GaPundit.com of more than 1000 voters. Other names that came up in the results were U.S. Reps Paul Broun, Tom Price …

Would Tom Price, who represents Roswell, be a good candidate for U.S. Senate?
Citing the lack of bipartisanship that he covered during a Sandy Springs/Perimeter Chamber of Commerce meeting last year, U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss announced on Friday that he is not seeking re-election in 2014. “This is about frustration, both at a lack of leadership from the White House and at the dearth of meaningful action from Congress, especially on issues that are the foundation of our nation’s economic health," Chambliss said in a statement. "The debt-ceiling debacle of 2011 and the recent fiscal-cliff vote showed Congress at its worst and, sadly, I don’t see the legislative gridlock and partisan posturing improving anytime soon. "For our nation to be strong, for our country to prosper, we cannot continue to play politics with the …

Dem. State Rep. Stacey Abrams gives a counterpoint but agrees changes to entitlements must be made.
Healthcare was the topic of Georgia Congressman Tom Price's talk, Monday, at a Sandy Springs Perimeter Chamber Breakfast. “Unless we address the issues of Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security, we cannot - we will not – grow this economy,” said Price to a crowded room at the Westin Hotel. Price told the crowd that $2.5 trillion of $3.5 trillion in federal government spending is on entitlements. “You can’t balance the budget without changes to Medicare…Which is why I can’t tell you how excited I am that my party selected Paul Ryan [as the vice presidential pick],” he said. Whatever side of the health care debate folks fall on, Price said one thing in which most people would agree, there will be a lot of harsh banter slung around the …

As the featured speaker at the Sandy Springs/Perimeter Chamber of Commerce breakfast event, Monday, Sen. Chambliss talked about transportation, the debt crisis and terrorism.
Here’s something you don’t hear Washington politicians say everyday – bipartisanship. While Georgia Sen. Saxby Chambliss was frank in his opinion about what needs to be done in Washington, during a talk to local business leaders, Monday, he said there has to be some give and take from both sides of the Congressional aisle. “Republicans don’t have all the good ideas. Democrats have some good ideas too,” he said. “Bipartisanship is needed.” Chambliss was the featured speaker at the Sandy Springs/Perimeter Chamber of Commerce Bagels and Business Breakfast event at the Westin Hotel, providing insight on upcoming bills, the debt crisis and terrorism. [The Senator is vice chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence.] “When you get …
