UPDATE Roswell PD: No Fake Weapons, Costumes at Aurora

UPDATE: Friday, July 19, 6:31 p.m.: In wake of the shooting at a Colorado movie theater during Thursday's midnight premiere of "The Dark Knight Rises," some law enforcement agencies have stepped up patrols of local theaters, however Roswell Police say they will maintain their current level of security. According to Roswell Police Spokeswoman Lisa Holland, Aurora Cineplex hires the department's off-duty officers for extra security. "Aurora Cineplex is deeply saddened by the events last night in Colorado. 12 Killed in Shooting at 'Dark Knight' Screening in Colorado

At least 50 wounded; suspect in custody.

A midnight screening of "Dark Knight Rises" turned tragic when a gunman opened fire in a movie theater in suburban Denver. At least 14 people are dead and 50 injured. Ten people died in the theater. According to media reports, Aurora, Colo., police have a suspect in custody. Witnesses at the Century 16 movie theater say the gunman, wearing military-type fatigues and gas mask, set off a smoke bomb and then made his way through the theater, gunning people down. Bullets went through the theater wall, injuring people in the next theater, as well. Some 250 police officers responded to the scene and found the suspect near a car at the back of the theater. Man Shot Outside Johns Creek Business, Driven to Roswell

Victim survived; taken to Grady.

A man was shot outside Auto Service Unlimited in Johns Creek and then driven to a Roswell fire station, Friday night. According to Rosemary Taylor, communications manager for the Johns Creek Police Department, 911 received a call for shots fired around 8 p.m. But when Johns Creek Police arrived at the service station, 9930 Jones Bridge Road, just north of Old Alabama Road, the victim was not at the scene. Shot twice in the chest and leg, he apparently was driven to a fire station in Roswell before being transported to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta. Roswell Police called the JCPD to let them know the victim had been driven to Roswell. Detectives are investigating the incident.

Update: Roswell Man Shot in Sandy Springs Apartment Community

One person is dead and another shot at the Residences at Morgan Falls Apartments.

From Sandy Springs Police Capt. Steve Rose Sandy Springs Police have identified the two victims shot, Saturday night, at the Residences at Morgan Falls Apartments. Twenty-eight-year-old Patrick Placide of Winters Chapel Road, in Atlanta, was dead at the scene. His cousin, Jeanlouis Willy, 28, of Ridge Lane in Roswell was treated and released from North Fulton Hospital. It appears that the pair were involved in a drug deal in the parking lot about 11:30 p.m., when they were shot. The identification of the suspects is still not known.

Police Make Arrest in Gas Station Shooting

The Roswell Police Department arrested a man they believe is connected to a shooting Thursday, March 29, at a Holcomb Bridge Road gas station.

Roswell Police arrested Lorenzo James Leftenant and charged him with aggravated assault after he allegedly shot a man at a Holcomb Bridge Road gas station. James Landingham was shot Thursday afternoon in the parking lot of the Chevron Gas Station at 1105 Holcomb Bridge Road. According to reports, when Leftenant allegedly approached his victim, Landingham thought it was a toy gun. After he was shot, he waved down an a Roswell Police officer, who was on patrol near the intersection where the gas station is located, and showed him a gun shot wound to the abdomen. Roswell Mourns the Loss of Brittney Watts

Services were held at Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church this morning, Tuesday, July 19.

UPDATED: July 20, 11:18 a.m. - Hundreds turned out for the funeral services held Tuesday morning at the Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church for Brittney Watts, the 26-year-old woman fatally shot in Midtown Atlanta on Friday. From the somber atmosphere, it was apparent that the loss of Watts - a native of Roswell and graduate of both Roswell High School and the University of Georgia - had a significant impact on her hometown of Roswell. The woman friends say was always so positive and upbeat had only recently returned to the Atlanta area, moving into a Decatur neighborhood with her husband. Roswell High School Principal Jerome Huff said he was incredibly saddened by Watts death, which he learned of upon returning home from vacation this …

Funeral Today for Roswell Native Killed in Midtown Shooting

Questions linger as to why the 26-year-old Brittney Watts was shot Friday by a security guard.

Friends and family will gather today to celebrate the life of an "always positive, always upbeat" 26-year-old woman who was killed in a triple shooting last Friday in Midtown.  The funeral service for Brittney Watts is set for 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Alpharetta.  A native of Roswell, Watts graduated from the University of Georgia in 2007 with a degree in advertising. She recently moved back to Atlanta with her husband, Brian, when her company 22squared transferred her to their Midtown office. It was there at The Proscenium building where she was gunned down in the parking garage last week. Police have charged a security guard, Nkosi Thandiwe, 22, with murder in her death.  Questions remain if Watts was …

Security at Midtown Office Tower Ramps Up after Shooting of Roswell Grad

The motive remains unclear in Friday's fatal shooting in the parking deck of The Proscenium.

Workers at Midtown's Proscenium office tower returned from the weekend to find stepped-up security after a triple shooting that killed a woman in the building's parking garage on Friday. The building's management has updated tenants through emails and held a meeting Monday to update them on the incident. Building managers said there would be "triple the normal amount of guards along with APD presence" this week, said Maren Wronowski, an office manager in the Proscenium building who shared notes from the meeting with her co-workers. Some tenants were upset to learn that the man charged in the shootings, Nkosi Thandiwe, 22, was a security guard at The Proscenium building.
