The city of Roswell’s competitive dance company, Roswell City Dance came away as the highest winning studio.
For the first competition of the season, Roswell City Dance (RCD), competed in the regional competition March 16-18 at the Starpower Dance Competition held at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta. RCD - the city of Roswell’s competitive dance company - won over 50 awards for dance and choreography, which was the highest number of awards won by any studio at Starpower in Atlanta. RCD competed in the "Power" division, the highest level of competition at Starpower. As well as winning top awards in almost every age bracket and category, one group piece, "The Only Fault," won the highest overall score for the entire competition. The Tony Award winning show is coming to the Cobb Energy Centre.

One lucky college graduate from Roswell is finding himself a quarter-million dollars richer. Joseph Crandall won a $250,000 prize playing Jeep Outdoor Adventure in the Georgia Lottery. The 23-year-old, who recently graduated from Georgia State University, purchased his lucky ticket last Thursday at Sydney Food Mart in Atlanta, and immediately went to claim his prize at Georgia Lottery headquarters downtown later that same day. Ironically, Crandall received the lottery-funded HOPE Scholarship while enrolled at the university. A Mega Millions ticket worth $250,000 sold in Roswell remains unclaimed.
The Mega Millions ticket sold in Roswell is worth $250,000, but Georgia Lottery Corporation officials say it remains unclaimed. "The winner has not come forward and has 180 days from the date of the drawing to claim the prize," said lottery spokeswoman Tandi Reddick. The ticket was sold at the Shallowford Road Publix Super Market. It was one of five tickets which matched the first five numbers in the drawing. Four other Georgia players matched the first five numbers to win $250,000 each. Those tickets were sold in Atlanta, Hinesville, Kingsland and Riverdale . BT head boys basketball coach Brian Marks is getting the most out of a talent-bare team in the early going.
Very rarely in any sporting event can a team win by intentionally not scoring. But in a rebuilding year in which the bottom of the talent barrel has been scraped bare, the Blessed Trinity Titans seem to be doing just that. The Roswell Ramblers Choir recently performed at a Roswell City Council Meeting.
The Roswell Ramblers Choir, the "Almost Singers," recently walked away with a 1st place title in the senior division at the Georgia Recreation and Parks State Talent Show. They performed "God Bless America" - one of the songs that won them the title- at the Dec. 13 Roswell City Council meeting.
