ReplyI would love to see a healthy-fast-food restaurant with simple fare. Something along the lines of Season's 52, but less expensive and something that is grab and go.

ReplyBrian, you are so right. As a dietitian working with people who want to lose weight the number one direction to go in for many people is learning that they cant focus on their goals if they are spending all their time worrying about their bodies, trying to hide their flaws, and hating what they see. We are spiritual beings in a physical body. Imagine what kind of a life we could all have if we could harness that mental focus and get out of our own way. Everyone can learn to have that healthy lifestyle. One small change at a time feeds into the next until before you know it the bad habits have fallen away. Today is a new day. We can start now!

ReplyJazzercise is a great workout which includes strength training with its cardio. You learn all the best music, nobody cares if you miss a step and there are no mirrors. Lots and lots of class times to choose from!!

ReplyGreat recipe Wendy, especially since it leaves out the roux that can be difficult to make. My one suggestion to add flavor would be to use a good boxed chicken broth instead of water. And since I am a nutritionist I can't stop myself from suggesting a couple more tweaks for for those who would like to increase their fiber and vitamin intake and reduce unhealthy fat: use the olive oil instead of the bacon fat, switch to low fat sausage, increase the quantities of onion, pepper and celery by maybe a third, and use brown rice instead of white rice. If you do change to brown rice then you will need to let it simmer for 30 to 40 minutes before adding the shrimp:)

ReplyVery nice article. When you begin your exploration of the different religious communities in east Cobb I hope you will include Unity on Sandy Plains Rd. Unity has its roots in Christianity but recognizes all religions and all paths to the one universal God. This relatively large congregation has a vibrant, diverse and growing membership. It is entirely separate from the Unitarian Universalist church (located in Atlanta).

ReplyOne day is perfect. Two days the boredom begins. Three days and you begin to worry how the schools will make up for the snow days.
A rumor is circulating that the winter break scheduled for the third week of February may be cancelled or cut short. I hope this is true!! How can we find more information on this one?

For those who are not familiar with Unity Church, I highly recommend that you try this life-changing community, if not for the event listed here but every Sunday morning. This amazing church honors all religions, is deeply spiritual, warmly welcoming, creative and a force of positive energy. I have seen countless lives changed by this community.
