About Deborah

I live in Atlanta with my husband Fred & our 3 beautiful daughters. Their names are Yael, Leora & Noa.  My oldest, Yael, has a diagnosis of “High Functioning Autism.”  She was initially diagnosed with “Pervasive Developmental Disorder” at age 3. That is when our life on the spectrum began. This blog is meant to share the experiences of raising a child with autism. I share as a mother, an educator & an advocate.  The name, “Puzzled” refers to the single puzzle piece, symbolic of autism awareness.  It is also an honest insight into the puzzling & perplexing moments of raising a child with special needs. My daughter has autism, but I believe that all of us who are raising, loving or educating a child with any special needs, share common hopes, dreams & experiences. I hope that you will think of this blog as a safe & supportive place to listen, share & learn from one another.

You can subscribe to the blog directly on this site or follow me at www.ourpieceofthepuzzle.wordpress.com or on Twitter @autismandfamily. You can also find me on facebook at “Puzzled: Raising a Child With Autism & Other Pieces of Family Life.”
