Denise inherited the journalism gene from her maternal grandfather, editor of her weekly childhood hometown newspaper.

Her journalism experience began as the assistant editor of her high school newspaper and continued in college where she freelanced as a reporter and photographer for TheSaint.com, the online student newspaper of North Georgia College & State University (NGCSU).  She is credited with the photos for the masthead of The Saint and served as both its Assistant Editor as well as Photo Editor.   

She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from NGCSU as an English major with a concentration in writing and publishing and her minor was Gender Studies. As of this fall, she continues her studies in pursuit of a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. 

Denise currently maintains "Simone and Me" her blog based upon connections between Simone de Beauvoir and herself.
