On the article Mayor Wood Declares 2013 'Marriage Week' in Roswell

I think this is a GREAT idea. Thank you Mayor Wood for honoring the 'married' citizens of our community. It is a nice thought as Valentine's Day is approaching and everyone's thoughts turn to Love! :-)
As for Debra's comment, Get Over it! This event only 'smacks of discrimination' if you want it to. Yes, there are divorced, gay, elderly, young unmarried professionals living together. And, they can all have their day as well. We could easily surmise that your comment about marrieds 'smacks of discrimination' against those that are married. We really truly all do need to lighten up a bit and realize that every action we take is not always directed at us!
With Valentine's Day approaching, it is nice to just think of marriage in a warm and loving way. If you choose to NOT marry, that is YOUR choice. But, don't keep those that ARE married from being celebrated as well. Keep up the GREAT work running Roswell and honoring its' citizens, Mayor Wood!

ReplyI think this is a GREAT idea. Thank you Mayor Wood for encouraging those that ARE married to stay that way. As for Debra's comment, this only 'smacks of discrimination' if you want it to. Yes, there are divorced, gay, elderly, young unmarried professionals living together. And, they can all have their day as well.
