Our practice focuses on children and adults with vision problems that interfere with reading and learning. There are over 15 visual skills that are typically not tested during a routine eye exam. These skills include eye movements (tracking), focusing, eye teaming, and eye-hand coordination.

Symptoms of a vision problem that interferes with reading and learning include: losing place when reading, headaches when reading, trouble switching focus from near to far, words run together when reading, omits small words when reading, writes up or down a hill, labeled "ADD/ADHD", "lazy", or "slow learner".

What is vision therapy?

Vision Therapy is similar to physical therapy in that it is an individualized treatment program using specific eye exercises and equipment that help teach patients how to use their eyes correctly.

How does vision therapy work?

Like many skills, visual skills are developed.  Since they are developed, they can generally be improved through proper therapeutic techniques.  In vision therapy, the doctor prescribes visual tasks to be practiced under controlled conditions with the direction of a vision therapist.  Repetition of these tasks enhances vision by coordinating and improving eye movements, focusing ability, eye teaming and eye-hand coordination skills.
