Roswell Heirloom Holidays Returns Dec. 7

Here's everything you need to know from the City of Roswell about the 1850 Heirloom Holidays tour, which is coming up two weeks from tomorrow. The Roswell Community is coming together for a Living History Weekend featuring a 1850s Heirloom Holidays tour of historic homes and buildings. This event is being presented by the Historic Homes of Roswell, Roswell Historical Society, Georgia Ensemble Theatre, City of Roswell Historic and Cultural Affairs and the Roswell Visitors Bureau.   

The tour will take place on December 7 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will include several Historic properties (homes and buildings) that will join with the Southern Trilogy (Barrington Hall, Bulloch Hall, and Smith Plantation).  Ticket price includes admission to all the sites.  

The tour will be held rain or shine, and tickets are available at the Roswell Visitors Center, The Chandlery, Barrington Hall, Bulloch Hall, Smith Plantation and the offices of the Roswell Historical Society.  Ticket prices for the tour are $30 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under.

Also on December 7 along the tour route there will be costumed characters from Roswell’s past, compliments of Georgia Ensemble Theatre. Guests are invited to listen to their conversations and even interact with them as if they were actually in the 1850s. These reenactments may be enjoyed free of charge and will take place throughout the day. 

Children and their parents will definitely want to visit the Teaching Museum on December 7 where they will be delighted by original antebellum photographs of children, a period style decorated tree, and children’s toys from this period of time, presented by the Roswell Historical Society. Children will also create an ornament reminiscent of the 1850s. Activities take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.and are free of charge, but children must be accompanied by an adult.

Other family-friendly Heirloom Holiday happenings are incorporated throughout the weekend including a Holiday Bazaar, open Hearth Cooking demonstrations a bonfire at Canton Street, and the Lighting of the Town Square with a visit from Santa.
